Cornell Managers Spreading Rumors

Rumor

Fact

There will be no new contract.

The UAW Bargaining Team is meeting regularly and we plan to start negotiations for a new contract in June.

There will be no wage increase.

We ARE seeking a wage increase and a fair contract.

There will be no strike.

The Union is ready to call a strike if needed to get a FAIR CONTRACT.

If you are laid off it’s to the unemployment lines for you.

Anyone laid off will be able to use the bumping rights in our contract.

Management can lay off anyone at any time without consulting the Union.

Any layoffs must be based on seniority within the Department. If you get a layoff notice, contact the Union right away at 272-4108 or uaw2300@clarityconnect.com

You are not allowed to wear Union buttons or pins at work.

It violates our Union rights to prevent anyone from wearing a union button where there is no contrary department dress policy.

When the contract expires on June 30, there will be no union; benefits, wages and jobs will then be cut.

All benefits and wages we currently have stay the same until we sign a new contract.

Management can just reduce our hours to save money if they want to.

Any reduction in hours must be done in accordance with our contract. If this happens, contact your Steward right away.

There is no one to ask to get factual information about what’s happening.

Contact your Steward or call the Union at 272-4108 if you have any questions or concerns.

Some people are working out their own deals with management.

It is illegal for management to bypass the Union to work out a special deal with any individual.
