Letters to the EditorsApril 2009New Contract: It’s Time for a Longevity IncreaseDear Bear Facts: Let’s face it, the thing we all need most is more money. For those of us who have been at Cornell for more than ten years we should be making more than those people more recently hired. We have more experience and knowledge and have proven ourselves as valuable employees. People hired before June 30, 1994 make over $3.00 an hour more than I do. People four pay grades below me make about what I make because of when they were hired three years before me. It is time that a “time in service” pay raise be given to those of us that have been there for more than ten years. I was totally surprised that this did not happen in the last contract. I hope that this is part of the bargaining for the new contract. Brian Lader |
